FARMERS' MARKET SATURDAY JUNE 15th
Here in Niagara, we enjoy local rhubarb, lettuce, chard, and beets, and every week more and more farmers are joining us as their crops ripen. Microgreens and sprouts are truly a Super Food. At the Saturday Farmers’ Market, Just Peachie Farms will have several different varieties available, all with their unique flavours. Want to find out more? Stop by to ask some questions at their booth. They love to share their knowledge with our customers! While you are shopping, drop your knives, scissors and garden tools off to be sharpened up by Brian from Smooth Edge Sharpening. Every Saturday, we have jams and preserves, local honey, fresh picked floral bouquets, fresh-baked pastries and pies, granola, chaga mushroom tea (stop by Small Scale Farms booth and ask for a sample), gourmet cheese, plants, and a wealth of knowledge to share with you. For unique gift items, stop by to see Georgie for one-of-a-kind antique pieces. Relax at the colourful picnic tables which are sponsored by Allstate Insurance St. Catharines and NOTL Realty, with a cup of coffee, breakfast, or a pastry, catch up with friends, and enjoy the music of Tim Atherton this Saturday. Support Local by supporting Farmers’ Market! When you purchase from The Market @ The Village, you are supporting a local farmer, producer, and your own community. Keep it local!
SupperMarket WEDNESDAY JUNE 19th
The ever-popular SupperMarket is in full swing. On Wednesday June 17th, look forward to some great music on the Shaw Festival Market Stage by popular duo Laurel & Hulley. The free (with a food donation for Newark Neighbours) “Kids Zone” sponsored by DF Design Build, Niagara Inflatables, and Niagara Nature Tours is open 6-8pm. Enjoy a glass of local wine from Lailey or Marynissen, a beer from Silversmith or The Exchange, or a Cider from Ironwood while dining on gourmet foods from our 20+ vendors. The Meridian Credit Union Vendors MarketPlace will be full with farmers, artisans, and take-home food vendors. Because of the generous support of John & Liz Hawley, Shaw Festival, Meridian Credit Union Virgil, Allstate Insurance-St. Catharines, NOTL Realty, DF Design Build, and The Wineries of Niagara on the Lake, we provide you with two exceptional Markets every week. The Market @ The Village; the place where Locals gather.
Meet you @ The Market!
SupperMarket on Wednesday's is going to be another fantastic community event! Dust off the winter cob-webs, and come check out the variety of food vendors that we have this year; many of your favourites have returned, and we have added a number of fantastic choices to the 2020 lineup!
To compliment your meal, Riverview and Palatine wineries, Oast and The Exchange breweries and Ironwood Cider will be ready to pour the perfect accompaniment. This week’s entertainment on the Shaw Festival Market Music Stage is the award-winning Jessica Wilson with Allen Guglielmi. In an effort to support up-and-coming musicians, the SupperMarket has established a “Junior Musicians” program; weekly, during the regularly scheduled entertainment’s first break, a young musician or duo from the Niagara Region will take the stage to play a few songs. This week, we welcome “Rhino & the Honey Badger (Wyatt & Brandon Shaw) as our featured Junior Musicians. Through this program, the SupperMarket supports young artists by providing them the opportunity to play in front of a live audience. If you would like to nominate a performance-ready music student for this program, please send an email to notl.market@gmail.com for more information.
New last year at SupperMarket is the Vendors’ MarketPlace under the Meridian Credit Union tent. Weekly, farmers with local produce, flowers, and preserves, local artisans, and take-home food vendors will be selling their wares. Be sure to check out the offerings under the Meridian Tent, as the vendors will change weekly. The popular Kids Zone is back again this season; we ask that you bring a non-perishable food donation for Newark Neighbours if your children are enjoying the activities in the free Kids Zone. Food donations can be dropped in the donation bin located by the Token Sales/ATM tent. The Kid’s Zone will be operating weekly from 6-8pm. For your shopping convenience, we will have the ATM onsite at both the Saturday Farmers’ Market and the Wednesday SupperMarket throughout the season. The Market @ The Village would like to thank our 2020 Sponsors for making this season possible. Without the generous support of John & Liz Hawley, Meridian Credit Union of Virgil, Shaw Festival, Allstate Insurance Company of St. Catharines, Niagara on the Lake Realty, DF Design Build, Wineries of Niagara on the Lake, and the Town of Niagara on the Lake, this community event would not be a possibility. We are looking forward to seeing everyone come out to share good food, good drinks, and good community. The Market is located at 111 Garrison Village Drive in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Meet You @ The Market!
